Opening Doors Project

The Opening Doors Project is dedicated to creating purpose-built homes for people with disability who require 24-hour support.

So far, we’ve proudly completed 3 homes and 12 units, providing safe, supportive living environments for 22 individuals. Each residence is a step toward greater autonomy, dignity, and connection for people in our community.

We’re now preparing for our next chapter and we need your help.

We’re currently fundraising to enable us to plan and design our sixth Opening Doors Project, with your support, we can continue opening doors to independence and inclusion.

Our Projects

Opening Doors Project 1 – Minor Street

The Opening Doors Project at Minor Street was initiated by CLRS in response to a recognised need for specialised supported accommodation for people with disability.

Opening Doors Project 2 – Eyre Street

Following the success of the Minor Street Project, in 2015 CLRS purchased a block of land in Eyre Street. This project was supported through a grant from the Department of Social Services.

Opening Doors Project 3 – Maiden Street

In early 2017 a suitable vacant block of land was identified in Maiden Street, Moama. This project was a replica of the projects at Minor Street and Eyre Street.

Opening Doors Project 4 – Barry Street

This project developed a new style of building. Four single bed units, two of which had a carers unit attached, were built. This style of development was developed directly as a result of feedback and needs identified.

Opening Doors Project 5 – Spoonbill

Our most recent Opening Doors project was delivered directly as a result of a $750,000 donation received from a local couple. Two two-bedroom units were developed, to ensure these homes can flexibly meet needs into the future.
